Grocery Prices Continue to Rise

by Juan Tivales on March 3rd, 2026

Grocery prices throughout Troup County continue their northward trend for the first quarter of 2026 rising about 2.7 percent during the same time period in 2025.

The average price of a gallon of whole milk stands at $7.75 and a pound of 80/20 ground beef has risen 22 percent year over year. Eggs meanwhile, have actually decreased in price over 2025 and a dozen large eggs sells today at about $2.75 throughout area grocers.

Grocery prices in 2025 continued to rise, with food-at-home (grocery) prices increasing by approximately 2.3% for the year, according to USDA Economic Research Service data. While this rate was slower than the 2020–2023 surge, it represents a continued, significant increase in costs for staples like beef, coffee, and produce.
